One of the side effects of never being around your family is that birthdays are often spent by yourself. This side effect does allow one to take off in the middle of the night to take pictures. These pictures were taken between 9:30 PM and 12:30 AM all were between 20 and 45 minute exposures, with the light provided by a 3/4 moon creating a near daytime look with visible star trails.
Standing in the cold desert air, beverage in hand, distant sounds of Led Zeppelin being played by late night climbers (whose headlamp trails can be seen in the first picture) at the base of one of the many crags, combined with the screeches made by the nocturnal desert hunters made for the perfect ending for a not so eventful 33rd Birthday.
